GALENA, KS — Charlotte Rose Startzman, age 77, passed away at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at K U Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., following an illness.

Charlotte was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Wichita, Kan. Her parents were Earnie and Elsie Shafer. She had lived in Galena since 1977.

In addition to being a homemaker, she had worked at several different jobs over the years. She had worked as a school bus driver and a clerk at K-Mart before she and her husband bought and operated Riverton 5-C's Bait Shop from 1977 to 1984. She later managed Mary's Cafe in Galena, but retired as a parts clerk for 66 Auto Salvage, Galena.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wichita, and the VFW Post 534, Joplin, Mo. Among her several interest and activities were gardening and scrapbooking.

She was married to Claudie E Startzman on July 7, 1952, in Bartlesville, Okla. He passed away Oct. 4, 1984.

Surviving are two sons, Calvin (wife, Theresa) Startzman, Wichita, Kan., and Curtis Startzman, Galena; one daughter, Carrolyn (husband, Melvin) Ingersoll, Joplin; four grandchildren, Jason (wife, Brandi) Carlisle, Raymore, Mo., Mistie (husband, Kevin) Vaughn, Wichita, Andria Ingersoll, Kansas City, Mo., and Jason Ingersoll, Oronogo, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren, Katie Carlisle, Lauren Carlisle, Kyle Ingersoll, Danny Anderson and Sophie Vaughn.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 5, at Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita.
