NEOSHO, MO —
Dr. James E. Rudd died at his home on Oct. 10, 2012.
He was born July 17, 1928, in Wichita, Kan., the son of Ward H. and Pauline (Cushman) Rudd.
He was united in marriage to Willa Don Graves on June 3, 1956, at the South Joplin Christian Church.
Dr. Rudd received his elementary education in Winfield, Kan., and graduated from Neosho High School. He attended Central College (now Central Methodist University), The University of Arkansas and graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn., then served two years in the military. He practiced optometry in Cassville, Neosho, and Shell Knob, Mo.
He was a member of the Neosho United Methodist Church, The Southwest Missouri Optometric Society and The Missouri Optometric Association, of which he was a past president.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents; his wife of 49 years, Willa Don; two daughters, Robin Sue and Rose Ann; and one son, Ward Douglas.
Surviving is his son, Will James Rudd and his wife, Stacy, of Dallas, Texas, and five granddaughters, Kristin, Carolyn, Lauren, Kathryn and Camryn; one sister, Eleanor Rudd Calvert and husband, Paul, of Kansas City; two nephews, Ken and wife, Trisha Calvert and Craig and wife, Christina Calvert; his wife, Avis Lankford Rudd and her children, Pat Cole, Larry and Carol Lankford, Peggy and Ron Becknell, Pam and Kenneth Link and Garry and Cathy Lankford; 13 step grandchildren; and 20 step great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Neosho United Methodist Church, Rev. Sara Chaney officiating. There will be reserved seating for the Christian Builders Sunday School Class. Friends may call on Friday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Neosho United Methodist Church or Central Methodist University, Fayette, Mo., in care of Clark Funeral Home P.O. Box 66 Neosho, MO 64850.
