PITTSBURG, Kan. —

PITTSBURG, Kan. - Audra Taber Griffitt, age 97, of Pittsburg, a former Joplin resident, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg following a short illness.

Audra was born July 11, 1915, in Bunker, Mo. She was a 1933, graduate of the Ellsworth, Kan., High School. She had lived the last 10 years in the Pittsburg area, and currently at the Sunset Manor in Frontenac, moving there from Joplin. She assisted her son with the operation of Griffitts Corner Convenience Store at Filmores Bridge, while living in Joplin. She was a member of the Harmony Heights Baptist Church and a longtime Sunday School Teacher.

Audra married William I. Woody Griffitt July 3, 1937, in Ellsworth. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1974.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Cora Taber; four brothers, Charles, Paul, Chester, and Richard Taber; one sister, Eleanor Conrad; and three great-grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Pat Griffitt and wife, Donna, Joplin; two daughters, Judith Kay Lloyd and husband, Jerry, Pittsburg, and Joann Tallman, Nashville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-greatgrandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rev. Jerry Lloyd, and Rev. Charlie Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at the Diamond Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Memorial contributions are requested to Helping Hands Intl. in care of the Mortuary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin.
