DUENEWEG, Mo. —
Marie R. Lea, age 95, of Duenweg, Mo., passed away early Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Lacoba Homes in Monett, following an illness.
Marie was born on Oct. 2, 1918, in Tar River, Okla., the daughter of George and Elsie (Hitt) Ball. She has been an area resident for most her life, where she spent her days as a homemaker, loving and caring for her family. Marie was also a Sunday School teacher at Duenweg Baptist Church for over 60 years.
She married Willard Lea on July 7, 1938. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1985.
Marie is survived by her son, Glenn Lea, of Joplin, Mo.; a sister, Mildred Keith, of Goodman, Mo.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Duenweg Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Diamond Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to Duenweg Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
