JOPLIN, Mo. —
Edgar W. Sears Jr., age 74, Joplin, Mo., passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, following a short illness.
He was born March 16, 1939, in Fayette, Mo., to Edgar and Buna Lea Jordon Sears.
Edgar served with the Navy from 1957 to 1961, and with the Army Reserve in 1975. He retired from Lozier Corporation in 2004.
He married Virginia Bellamy on Nov. 11, 196,1 in Reno, Nev. She survives.
Edgar is also survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Beezley and husband, Tim, Carl Junction, Mo., Sherry Lea Cardwell, Joplin, and Debbie L. Sears, Carthage, Mo.; two brothers, Lowell Sears, Big Cabin, Okla., and Billy Joe Sears, Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Geneva Kernell, Dodge City, Kan., and Nora Lea Hutchinson, Butler, Mo.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rev. Jarel Burnside officiating. Burial will follow in the Tracy Cemetery, east of Anderson, Mo. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
