GALENA, Kan. —
Lois Mae Fletcher passed on March 26, 2013, at 10 a.m. at her home. She was 79.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1933, in Baxter Springs, Kan., to Oscar "Shorty" and Myrtle Weaver. She lived on the family farm near Carl Junction, Mo., with her husband, Howard Fletcher.
Howard and Lois were married in 1951 in Carrol County, Ark. They had just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in January.
She was a housewife, homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active member of Smithfield Christian Church. Blessed with a beautiful voice, she enjoyed singing at church and with the Keenagers, a local singing group. She was an excellent cook and many people remember enjoying meals she had prepared at the farm.
She survived her five children: a daughter, Gail, married to Bob Kennedy; her four sons, Doug, married to Yvonne Fletcher, Russ, married to Lisa Fletcher, Clint, married to Mari Fletcher and Curt Fletcher with Kathy Davis; two brothers, Sam Weaver and wife, Mary Lou and Gary Weaver and wife, Barbara; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Pat Weaver.
Services will be held at Smithfield Christian Church on Friday, March 29, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday the 28th at the Smithfield Christian Church from 6 to 7 p.m.
There will be a memorial fund in her honor for the music department at Smithfield Christian Church. The memorial fund will be to Smithfield Christian Church in care of Derfelt Funeral Home.
