Jim Allen Eldred

GOLDEN CITY, Mo. — Jim Allen Eldred was born on Aug. 9, 1942, to Earl Wade and Elaine (Jones) Eldred in Hermitage, Mo. He passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 4:07 p.m. at the Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, Mo. Jim was preceded in death by his father. Jim shared 70 years, 8 months and 21 days with us.

Jim graduated from Golden City High School in 1960.

He married Carol Ann Forste on May 28, 1961, in Golden City, Mo. They lived in Ritchey, Mo. until 1984, when they moved to Golden City. Jim became owner of Cooky's Café in 1984, and has owned and now co-owns it with his family.

Jim is a member of the Ritchey Baptist Church in Ritchey. He has been a board member for the Lockwood Schools. His main interest was his cows and hay baling, but Jim liked to fish, hunt, travel especially to Hawaii, like to play cards particularly "Pitch". He also enjoyed coaching Becky's fifth grade girl's basketball teams

Jim is survived by his wife, Carol Eldred, Golden City; his mother, Elaine Eldred, Golden City; his children, Eden Ogden and husband, Bob, Greg Eldred and wife, Crystal, both of Golden City, Todd Eldred and wife, Leesa, South Greenfield, Mo., Becky Harshaw and husband, Kent, Avilla, Mo. and Joe Eldred and wife, Jannette, Webb City, Mo.; his brother, Bill Eldred, Butler, Mo.; his five sisters, Bonnie Higgs, Windsor, Mo., Sharon Julian, Lockwood, Mo., Sandy Pyle, Stockton, Mo., Shirley Bull, Lamar, and Debbie Salzman, Webb City; his 15 grandchildren, Adam and Shanna Ogden, Melanie and Jeremy Bowden, Matt and Kristy Ogden, Bekah Ogden, Bennet, Gareth, Callum, Ailan, Sevrin and Aaron Eldred, Alisha and Greg Anderson, Austin and Ryan Harshaw, Emily and Jacob Eldred; and four great-grandchildren, Asher and Braxton Ogden, Ava Anderson and Jace Bowden. Other family members, friends and neighbors will fondly remember this kind and loving man.

Services will be at 2 p.m. at Round Grove Baptist Church. Burial following in Greenwood-Kistler Cemetery.
