DIAMOND, Mo. —
Earl Clifton Drake, age 62, of Diamond, Mo., climbed the stairway to Heaven at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
Cliff was born on April 14, 1952, to the late Don and Earlene (Myrick) Drake in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He graduated from Diamond High School in 1970. He served in the United States Air Force as an E-4 Sergeant from March 26, 1971 to March 25, 1977.
On Sept. 25, 1971, he married Susan Black.
He was a truck driver for 12 years. He and his wife, Susan, owned and operated Midway Auto Salvage, Midway Auto Racing, Midway, Manufacturing, TRACC LLC and Midway Auto/Cliff Drake Crushing. He served on the PWSD No. 3 Jasper County board as president for six years, and he served on the Jasper County Sherriff's Posse. Before his death he was driving Ms. Daisy (Susan) around for her job. Cliff touched everyone who touched his path.
Cliff is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Drake, Diamond; a son, Scott Drake and wife, DeAnn, Joplin, Mo.; a daughter, Micki Drake, FortWorth, Texas; three grandchildren, Trevor Drake, Taaron Drake and Mayci Drake; two brothers, Craig and Clay Drake, Diamond; two sisters, Cathy Cole and husband, Duane, Miller, Mo., and Colleen Holland and husband, Tom, Diamond; mother-in-law, Corine Black; and many other special nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mason-Woodard Chapel. A private graveside committal will be held Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be given to House of Hope or BACA in care of the mortuary.
