Jane M. Whitecrow

MIAMI, Okla. — Jane Marie Whitecrow, of Miami,Okla., passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at her home. She was 76.

Mrs. Whitecrow was born Oct. 5, 1937, in Lamar, Okla., to Ellick and Ruby (Newton) Ponder. She had lived the the Miami and Quapaw area most of her life for the exception of 10 years she lived in Denver, Colo.

She had been the manager of Papazanos Pizza in Seneca, Mo., for several years and later worked as a cage cashier at the Miami Casino.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Whitecrow in 1989. She was also preceded by her parents; two brothers, Richard Ladd and Bill Ladd; and two sisters, Judy Carr and Martha Merriman.

Survivors include two sons, Jake Whitecrow, III and his wife, Sharon and Jon Whitecrow and wife, Denise, of Quapaw, Okla.; one daughter, Jodie Whitecrow and partner, Alisa Stand, of Miami, Okla.; three brothers, Jim Ponder, of Dallas, Texas, John Ponder, of Miami and Pat Ladd, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and two sisters, Nancy Clarkson, of Grove, Okla. and Dorothy Wooley, of Miami. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Tanya Chaney, Chari Martin, Brent Whitecrow, Layton Whitecrow, Mikayla Welch, Shelaine Mosher, Chloe Stand, Shelby Blizzard and Seth Johnson; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. J.R. Matthews will conduct the eulogy with Native American Rites following.  Pallbearers will be Wayne Blalock, Wayne Mullin, Michael Montgomery, Clinton Martin, Daniel Palmer and Blake Palmer. Mrs. Whitecrow will lie in state at the Crawfish Farm east of Quapaw until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the Crawfish Farm with Native American services beginning  at midnight.

Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
