OCALA, Fla. —
Harry K. Riggs, 82, formerly of Joplin, Mo., passed away on July 16, 2013, in Ocala, Fla.
He was the son of Ivan and Mary Riggs. Harry was a 1949 graduate of Joplin Senior High School and received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Rolla School of Mines and Metallurgy in 1957. During his senior year at Rolla, he was elected into Eta Kappa Nu, the National Electrical Engineering Society. He served in the United States Air Force four years, most of which was spent in Birkenfeld on the Nahe, Germany at the U.S. Air Force radar site. Harry was employed for two years by Convair Aircraft in Fort Worth, Texas, and then took a job with Westinghouse Underseas Division in Annapolis, Md., from which he retired after 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Geraldine Kinkade Riggs, of Ocala; two daughters, Kathy Riggs Larsen and her husband, Kurt Larsen, of Katy, Texas, and Mary Riggs Jenkins and her husband, Ashby Jenkins, of Pasadena, Md.; two sisters, Janice Florine Cash and her husband, Nelson Cash, of Amarillo, Texas, and Dr. Donald Dean Riggs and his wife, Carol Kidd Riggs, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; also three grandchildren, Kristina Rose Larsen and Kory Alexander Larsen, of Katy, and Emily Raussell Jenkins, of Pasadena; one great-grandson, James Alexander Larsen, of Katy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Viola Mae Covey and Betty Jean Graves; and two brothers, J.R. Riggs and Calvin Coolidge Riggs.
