MIDWEST CITY, Okla. —
Gary Irl Stroud, 71, passed away July 13, 2013.
Gary was born April 11, 1942, in Wichita, Kan., to Irl and Marcella Stroud.
Gary was baptized at the age of 13 at the Sheridan Avenue Church of Christ in Tulsa, Okla. Gary was an example of what a son, husband, father, grandfather and brother should be. He took care of his family and always put them first. His hobbies included golf, fishing, antiquing, playing cards, working in the yard, and going to the casino playing the slots, but his favorite hobby was playing poker with the boys for chips and pride.
He started out his working career at Boeing in Wichita, Kan., then Fleming in Joplin, Mo. He started Stroud Body Shop with his dad and spent many years as a business owner and was self employed.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon Kay; three sons, Greg Stroud, James Andy Stroud and wife, Deborah and David Stroud; grandchildren, Nick Stroud, Brittany Stroud, Andrea Stroud and Allie Stroud; three sisters, Linda Francisco and husband, Gene, Luci Hilliard and husband, Ronnie and Becky Woodward and husband, Garry; and three sisters-in-law, Glenna Reding and husband, Herb, Beverly Johnson and Linda Clary and husband, Richard. Preceded in death by parents; in-laws, Glen Pogue, Margaret Pogue Smith and Fred Smith; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Johnson.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Swars Praire Baptist Cemetery, Seneca, Mo.
