GROVE, Okla. —
Amos R. Witte, resident of Grove, Okla., passed away Tuesday, July the 23rd, 2013, at his home. He was 73 years old.
He was born December the 27th, 1939, in Wyandotte, Okla., to Fred and Thelma (Ball) Witte. He graduated from Wyandotte High School, Wyandotte, with the class of 1958. He married Janis Cruse. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a mill man for B.F. Goodrich from 1968 to 1986 in Miami, Okla., then transferred to Tuscaloosa, Ala., retiring in 1992. He was also a self-employed farmer. He lived in Fairland, Okla., for 17 years and attended the Fairland First Baptist Church. He and Janis moved to Grove in 2000, from Tuscaloosa.
Amos is survived by his wife, Janis, of the home; three daughters, Amy Bethel and spouse, Joe, of Pineville, Mo., Christina Purser, of Amarillo, Texas, and Tracy Dayton and spouse, Michael, of Pheonix, Ariz.; one brother, Eddie Witte, of Miami; six sisters, Roberta Cole, of Miami, Rosena Mae Douthit, of Fairland, OK., Virginia Mahurin, of Fairland, Vivian Elliott, of Fairland, Mavis Barnett, of Miami, and Ruby Ange, of Rochester, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Ryan Langford, Clay Langford, Shelby Purser and Kyler Purser. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Witte and Glen Witte; and two sisters, Leota Faye Witte and Lucille Bearpaw.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, July the 27th, at the Adcock Funeral Home Chapel in Fairland. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m.
