JOPLIN, Mo. —
Harold LeRoy (Lee) Royer was born Dec. 27, 1943, in Carthage, Mo. He passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013.
Lee was the son of Harold and Ella Faye (Bauman) Royer. Lee proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in California, Hawaii, Okinawa, and Vietnam.
Lee was an accomplished Western artist and worked as a union meat cutter for many years until he retired in 1992. Lee and his wife, Sharon, worked with abused and troubled children and opened their home and hearts to over 170 foster children. Lee enjoyed traveling with his wife and children, hunting, golfing and was an avid Cardinals baseball fan. Lee loved his church and his longtime pastor, Dr. Mack Evans.
Lee is survived by his wife, Sharon (Jones) Royer; one son, Troy Royer and his wife, Debbie, of Neosho, Mo.; one daughter, Sherri Watson and her husband, Jeff, of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Kenny Royer, of Joplin, Mo., and Chuck Royer, of Bartlesville, Okla.; one stepson, Jeff Hermann, of Joplin; two stepdaughters, Gretchen Crown and Katrina Moss, of Joplin; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous foster children. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara Bryan-Farmer-Royer; one brother, Larry Royer; and his stepson, Todd Hermann.
Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. at the Sheep Shed, located at 8471 Gateway Drive, Neosho.
