Garey Lee Wilson


Garey Lee Wilson, 66, of Sebree, Ky., passed away May 2, 2012, in Calhoun, Ky.

He was born Sept. 23, 1945, in Galena, Kan., to Floyd and Virginia (Brown) Wilson.

He was saved at the age of 18 and accepted the call to preach at age 20. He pastored numerous different churches and attended Sebree Mission Church when he wasn't evangelizing.  Owned and operated Wil & Sons Construction for 32 years in and around the Joplin area. Throughout his life he mentored many young men and was a friend to all.

Garey was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Virginia Wilson; two sons, Stephen and Jeremy Wilson; and a brother Carl Wilson.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Daisy Wilson, of Sebree; a brother, Floyd Wilson, of Galena, Kan.; a sister, Barbara Little, of Galena, Kan.; daughter, Rebecca and husband, Mark Compton, of Sebree; sons, Garey Wilson II and wife, Andrea, of Craigsville, Va., Timothy Wilson and wife, Shanea Wilson, of Sebree, Nathaniel Roach and wife, Sara, of Castleberry, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Amber (Wilson) Bean and husband, John, of Joplin, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 6,  at Sebree Mission Church in Sebree. Visitatation will be held Sunday, May 6,  from 5 to 8 p.m. at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel in Sebree, and on Monday, May 7,  from 10 until 11 a.m. at Abundant Life Assembly of God, 5540 US Highway 41 A. South, Henderson, KY 42420. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, at Abundant Life Assembly of God with Brother Garey Wilson II, Brother Nathaniel Roach and Brother Mark Compton officiating. Graveside and burial will be in Onton Cemetery in Onton, Ky.
