JOPLIN, Mo. —
Gladys Morrison Hailey, age 104, of Joplin, Mo., passed away at home at 1:03 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013.
Gladys was born on Oct. 12, 1908, in Brandsville, Mo. and was the daughter of the late John and Belle Marshall Morrison.
She was a graduate of West Plains High School and attended SMSU, the former Springfield State Teachers College and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. She taught school for 30 years.
She married L. B. "Jack" Hailey on Aug. 11, 1931. He was also an educator and preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1981.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde W. Morrison and her parents.
Mrs. Hailey was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Womens Missions, Kum Dub'l Sunday School Class and Sarah Circle. She taught day kindergarten at the church for 14 years. She was a member of Chapter FI, PEO Sisterhood, the Joplin Women's Club, and the GFWC Unity Girls Town Club.
She is survived by one son, Thomas M. Hailey and his wife, Pat, Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Linda Kay Hailey, Joplin; three grandchildren, Jon H. Anderson, Joplin, Teri Taylor and Shari Ramos, Tulsa, Okla.; nephews, Clyde Morrison, Jr and his wife, Barbara, Joplin, Scott Morrison; niece, Kelly Morrison; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are planned for Friday at 2 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bruce Jacobs will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Joplin.
