JOPLIN, Mo. —
Pattie P. "Patsy" Roberson, age 66, Joplin, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Kansas University Medical Center after an illness.
Patsy was born April 4, 1947, in Robersonville, N.C., to the late Jarvis Perkins and Pattie Earl Wynne and had lived in Joplin for 36 years.
Patsy worked over 30 years at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, as their financial secretary. In addition to her regular duties, she taught Sunday School; served on most of the church's committees; chaperoned many youth trips to Falls Creek; organized most of the church's special events and oversaw the maintenance of the church. She loved her church, but, more important, loved it's members. She continued to build her relationship with her Lord through eight years of BSF with her friends.
Patsy was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was in the Preceptor Lambda Xi chapter. She was a member for over 30 years and earned her yellow rose certificate as well as her silver circle certificate. She held many offices in both her chapter and the sorority's city council. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all of her sorority sisters.
She was very involved with sports. As the wife of an official and umpire and the parent to a player, her free time involved countless hours of watching her son play baseball and driving back and forth to different ball fields. She organized and operated the concession stands for seven years for both Little League and Senior League. She enjoyed following Ashley's baseball career, giving him all of her support and loving every minute.
Ashely was the apple of her eye. He married Angela and together they have four children, Taylor, Katelynn, Caroline and Kennedy. She loved her grandchildren and lived her life experiencing their magical moments.
Patsy married her childhood sweetheart, Johnny, on Dec. 22, 1968. They experienced 44 years of marriage. To all their friends over the years, it was always, "Patsy and Johnny".
In addition to her parents, Patsy was also preceded in death by a brother, Russell Perkins and his wife, Carol; and her father, Ashley Wynne, who was married to her mother for many years.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Rev. Jamie Tickle and Bud Clapp will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the church. A visitation is planned for Friday at Parker Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth and Children Ministries Scholarship Fund in care of Parker Mortuary.
Her family wishes to thank all the people who prayed; visited at the hospital and sent cards of support during her illness. A special thank you goes to all the doctors and nurses at Freeman West and East; National Healthcare and K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City.
She was loved by her friends and family, but more important, experienced Gods love through His amazing grace.
