WEBB CITY, Mo. —
Kevin Ray Cooper, age 48, Webb City, passed away at 1:54 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Mercy Hospital after a sudden illness.
Kevin was born May 24, 1964, in Joplin to Bobby and Wanda Ackerson Cooper and had lived in the Joplin area all of his life.
Kevin worked as a paint and body man at Big Rig Trucks for several years. He and his wife also owned and operated the former Coopers Body Shop for 11 years. Prior to that he worked as a paint and body man at Peterbuilts and the former Gus Shaffar Ford Dealership.
Kevin loved to bowl. He was a member of a bowling league and rolled several 300 games. He enjoyed sport shooting and was a fan of drag racing at MoKan.
He married Wendy Bowman on Jan. 30, 1999, in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Bobby L. Cooper, Joplin; a step daughter, Theresa Caywood, Stella; his parents, Bobby and Wanda Cooper, Joplin; two grandchildren, Halen Cooper, Joplin, Triston Turner Caywood, Stella; and several extended family members.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Duenweg Assembly of God. Pastor Bill Hobson and Pastor John Newberry will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Preston, Robert Bowman, Greg Bowman, Eric Kauffman, Larry Kennard and Pat Bennett. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Parker Mortuary for the Kevin Cooper Memorial Fund.
