James Lee Young

HORNET, MO —

James Lee Young, age 61, of Hornet, Mo., passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at his home, following a short illness.

Born April 18, 1951, in Galena, Kan., he was the son of Bobbie F. Young and Ruth E. Stewart Young.

He started school in Joplin before moving with his family to Hornet, Mo., when he was 9 years old. There he attended Warren's Branch Rural School until he graduated from the eighth grade. He then attended Seneca High School.

In May of 1971, he married Janice Rinehart, of Galena, Kan., and they had two children.

Jimmy lived and worked most his life in the surrounding and Tulsa area and was once a member of the Plumbers Union. He worked several years at Missouri Steel Castings, Junge's Bakery, Bama Pies, J.B. Hunt and the Milnot Company. He had recently retired.

Jimmy always had a passion for different types of birds and enjoyed caring  his variety of pigeons. In November of 1996, he adopted a newly hatched Red Tailed African Gray Parrot which he named Caesar, who survives him. He also enjoyed golfing, darts, pool, riding his Harley and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include one son, Travis Young and two granddaughters, Kayla and Olivya, of San Diego, Calif; his mother, Ruth Young Daniels, of Hornet; two brothers, Bobby Young and wife, Jackie, of Mascotte, Fla., and Daniel Young and wife, Katie, of Lamar, Mo.; one stepbrother, Don Daniels and wife, Debbie, of Jay, Okla.; and two step brothers-in-law, Lloyd Barrett and James Russell, both of Gravette, Ark.; three sisters, Kathy Phipps and husband, Rick, of Galena, Carolyn Turner and husband, Steve, of Joplin, Mo., and Kim Briley and husband, Jimmy Joe, of Hornet; five stepsisters, Debbie Russow and husband, Clark, of Gravette, Rayma Bain, of Gravette, Robin Johnson, of Granby, Mo., Waletta (June) Freund and husband, Mike, of Granby, and Melissa Barnes, of Gravette; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Khristina Dianne; his father, Bobbie F. Young; his stepfather, Walter J. Daniels; and two stepsisters, Cowana (Connie) Barrett and Christina Russell.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Hornet Christian Church, Hornet.
