KANSAS CITY, MO —
Frances Elizabeth Boyd, 101, passed away Jan. 19, 2013.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 21, at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo. Entombment followed immediately in Temple Mausoleum, Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Frances was born to Henry Obert and Emma Isabelle Obert in Cass County, near Garden City, Mo. She graduated from Centerview High School with the class of 1929, and went on to attend Sedalia Business College for two years.
Frances worked at several different businesses in Kansas City, making a good reputation for herself. While working in Kansas City, she met George F. Boyd Sr., the love of her life, who she married Aug. 24, 1947, at her sister's home in Pleasant Hill, Mo. Early in their marriage, they lived in Kansas City, and after George had established his truck line, they relocated to Carthage, Mo. Frances and George would later go on to establish a home in Colorado, where they enjoyed their summers together and celebrated their golden anniversary Aug. 24, 1998.
Frances and George moved back to Kansas City, after selling the truck line, building their new home at Alameda Towers on the Plaza, where Frances stayed until she needed more help. She later moved to Kingswood Manor, where she celebrated her 101st birthday.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Kenneth and James; and sister, Helen.
She is survived by stepson, George Jr. and his daughters, Jennie and Jacque; halfsister, Anna Lou Engelhardt and her family members: grand niece and grand nephews and their spouses, great-nieces, other nieces and nephews of her deceased sister.
