CORPUS CHRISTI, TX —
Hubert (Houston) Carver, 76, born Feb. 3, 1936, left this life on Jan. 4, 2013, after a long illness.
He was born in Joplin, Mo., and has been a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, for the past 27 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, owned and operated Carver Asphalt Company.
Houston married Darlene Sue Dean in 1958.
He is survived by wife, Darlene (Sue) Carver; four children, Scott (Polly) Carver, Cindy (Sylvester) Martinez, Doug (Tammy) Carver and Travis (Jennifer) Carver; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Truman Cox, Joplin, and Earnie Cox, Webb City, Mo.; and sister, Earlean Cox, Muskogee, Okla. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Bayleigh Ann Marie Borjas; mother, Betty Cox; father, Denny Carver; six sisters; and four brothers.
Houston was a dedicated family man who devoted his life to his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. Houston was admired for his willingness to open his arms to anyone who asked. He cherished his family and friends and his warmth and gentle spirit made him loved by many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 8. Following Military Honors, Coastal Bend State Veteran Cemetery, Corpus Christi.
The family of Houston Carver want to express their gratitude for all the support in their time of sorrow.
