COLUMBUS, Kan. — COLUMBUS, Kan. - Larry Arthur Dunn, 70, of Columbus, Kan., died at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Medicalodge Nursing Home in Columbus.

He was born Nov. 13, 1942, in Everton, Mo., the son of Loren Arthur and Lorene Helen LaFoon Dunn. He had lived for most of his life in Columbus. He received his BS and MS Degrees in Education at Pittsburg State University.

Mr. Dunn was an educator teaching Industrial Arts at Columbus High School from 1965 to 1971 and again from 1992 to 2005. He also taught in St. Louis, Mo. and at NEO in Miami, Okla., as well as serving as a recruiter for the college.

Membership was held in the Presbyterian Church in Columbus,where he served as an elder, the Columbus Lions Club and the Kansas Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include a nephew, Michael P. Jones and his wife, Teresa, of Broken Arrow, Okla.;  a niece, Suzanne Steeley and her husband, Roger, of Everton, Mo.; great-nieces and nephews, Austin Jones and Evan Jones both, of Broken Arrow; Eric Steeley, Brandon Steeley and Lauren Steeley all, of Everton; a great-great-nephew, Devin Steeley, of Willard, Mo.;  and a great-great-niece, Raegan Brannock, of Everton, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Carolyn Sue Jones.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 611 S. East Ave. in Columbus, KS., with the Rev. Ollie Heth officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ray springs Cemetery in Everton, Mo. The family will receive their friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to the Columbus Lions Club, Horses of Hope or the Columbus Community Foundation for the Columbus High School Scholarship Fund. Memorials may be left at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus.
