JOPLIN, MO —
Shirley J. Diles, age 77, Joplin, passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Shirley was born on Oct. 12, 1935 in Carthage, Mo., to the late Wayne and Dorothy Grissom Evans. She grew up in Portland, Ore., and different towns in Colorado. Her family eventually moved back to the Carthage area, where she later met her husband, Charles (Charlie) A. Diles. They were married Dec. 23, 1955. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2004.
An infant sister, Loretta, also preceded her in death.
Shirley worked at Elders Shirt Factory, Eagle Picher and recently retired from Walmart in Webb City.
Shirley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She is survived by son, Charles (Chuck) Diles, of Joplin; daughter, Kelly Henson and husband, Paul, of Tulsa, Okla.; and grandchildren, Brian Henson, Christopher Diles, Breanne Diles, Bethany Henson and Justin Diles.
Shirley's family was very important to her. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop David G. Richins officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary.
