JOPLIN, MO —
Daniel Bradley Snyder, age 71, passed away Tuesday, May 8. 2012, in Ozark, Mo., following a long illness.
He was born Jan.3, 1941, in Roswell, N.M., to Mary Roberta (Bradley) and Dr. Chet L. Snyder. He graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in 1958, attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, and completed his degree in Microbiology from Pittsburg State University in 1970.
Dan's career as a microbiologist spanned 40 years: he worked for Upsher Laboratory, Oak Hill Hospital and retired from Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg, in 2006.
He married Mary Elizabeth Papp in 1963, who preceded him in death. He married Kay Cullers in 1989.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kathy Love (Bill), Springfield, Mo., and Kirsten Snyder (Daimon Eklund), Washington, D.C.; two step-sons, Cheyney Cullers, of Joplin, and Romney Cullers (Kate), of Cleveland, Ohio; and four grandchildren; Bradley, Johnathan and Sara Love, all of Springfield; and James Cullers of Cleveland.
Dan was well-read and a true "Renaissance" man, musket shooter and Civil War re-enactor. His hobbies included photography, water color painting, wood carving, canoeing, camping and playing folk guitar. His quick wit and clever sense of humor will be missed by family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 am., Saturday, May 12, at Parker Mortuary with Michael Blacksher officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Joplin R-VIII Schools Music Department.
