Willard Evans McKlintic

NEOSHO, MO —

Willard Evans McKlintic, 93, Neosho, Mo., died April 24, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, following a short illness.

Willard was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Greenville, Mo., the son of Walter Evans and Myrtle (Myers) McKlintic. He served in the Civil Conservation Corp prior to entering the U.S. Army in October 1941, where he served in the 38th Battilion Company B Signal Corp at Camp Crowder and at Fort Mammoth, N.J., and was honorably discharged in December 1945. He began working at Pet Milk Company, Jan. 2, 1946, and retired in 1983, following 38 years of employment. His passion was gardening, fishing, hunting and loved to see things grow. Dad loved to play baseball with his children and was a member of the Neosho American Legion.

Willard married Esther Bennett on Feb. 5, 1944, at Bentonville, Ark. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Glenda Kay Lasswell, Stotts City, Mo., Wanda Jaimez and husband, Alfredo, Neosho, Roger McKlintic, Nevada, and Kim McKlintic, Springfield; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six siblings, Maye Olhoff, Hollace McKlintic, Donald McKlintic, Hazel Stout, Hessman McKlintic and Ola Shrum.

Services will be Friday, April 27, at 10 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Jim Fuller, Andy Bennett, Alfredo Jaimez, Garlund McKlintic, Taylor McKlintic, Chris Shrum and Andy Nimmo. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Contributions in memory of Willard may be made to the Missouri Veteran’s Home, Mount Vernon, Mo., in care of Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
