COLUMBUS, Kan. —
Laura Mae Bristow, 62, of Columbus, Kan., died at 8:35 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
She was born Aug. 5, 1950, in Columbus, Kan., the daughter of Ward and Mary (Getman) Tillman.
Laura lived her entire life in the Columbus area was a graduate of Columbus High School and was a graduate of Labette Community College receiving her degree in nursing.
She married Homer Dale Bristow on Dec. 16, 1966, in Columbus. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2013.
Laura was a registered nurse, working for Mount Carmel Medical Center in Pittsburg. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus.
Survivors include a son, Michael Bristow, of Columbus; a sister, Eva Twitchell, of Nowata, Okla.; three brothers, Dale Tillman, of Miami, Okla., Charles Tillman, of Riverton, Kan., and David Tillman, of Columbus; two grandchildren, A.J. Bristow and Kayla Kirk and husband, Nate and two great-grandchildren, Tatum and Tyler Kirk, all of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Jackie Dale Bristow; and two sisters, Wilma Buckner and Virginia Tillman.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, with Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Friday until service time. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Columbus City Cemetery.
