NEOSHO, Mo —
Sharon Pauline Vance, age 69 of Neosho, Mo., formerly of Joplin, Mo., passed away at her home on Thursday, May 17, 2012, following a long battle with cancer.
Sharon was born on March 11, 1943, in Webb City, Mo., the daughter of Sherman and Helen (Nitowski) Bartlett. She has been a lifetime area resident. Sharon worked for many years in the billing department at Freeman Hospital before retiring in 2009. She was a member of Diamond Christian Church. She was an excellent porcelain doll maker, an excellent quilter, she loved traveling and camping, but most of all, Sharon loved to fish.
She married James Jim Vance on Oct. 21, 1988. He survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Kevin Musser and his wife, Lori, of Joplin; one stepdaughter, Misty Bartlett and her husband, Paul, of Republic, Mo.; one sister, Susan Neill, of Overland Park, Kan.; brother and sisters-in-law, Patricia and William Jones, Joyce and Gerald Smith, Frank and Vivian Vance; five grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Tyler, Macy and Makyla; one great-grandchild on the way, Jacob Alexander; and her beloved puppies, a Maltese, Dolly, a Yorkie, Lexee and a Golden Retriever, Patty. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Marvin Bartlett and Sherman Bartlett Jr.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, at the Diamond Christian Church, Mike Whorlow, will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 4 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
