Marilou Anderson

JOPLIN, Mo. — Marilou Boaz Anderson, age 85, of Joplin, passed away at 12:27 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Spring River Christian Village after a short illness.

Born Feb. 1, 1928, in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Melvin S. Boaz and Ada Ethel Putnam Boaz and lived in Joplin most of her lifetime. Marilou was a private duty nurse for many years before receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from M.S.S.U. and becoming a Registered Nurse. She then served as Director of Nursing at the former Elmhurst Nursing Home in Webb City and Fair Acres Nursing Home in Carthage. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, E. Clark Anderson; four brothers, Olen, Leo, Raymond and Eugene; two sisters, Della and Betty.

Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Holley and husband, Randy, of Joplin; a sister, Frances Bryant, of West Covina, Calif; three grandchildren, Renee Anderson, of Louisiana, Michelle Chacon and husband, Ryan, of Carthage, Robert Michael Holley and wife, Heather, of Joplin; four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, Gabrielle and Julie; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church 1501 Kansas Avenue, Joplin, with Pastor, Jeff Werda officiating. Private interment will be in Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Smile, an international children's medical charity that heals children's smiles, in care of the mortuary.
