JOPLIN, Mo. —
Lillian McGinnis, 84, passed away July 2, 2013, at College View Manor in Joplin, surrounded by her family.
Lillian was born March 4, 1929, in Climax Springs, Mo., to Elgie Flippin and Ella Mae (Green) Flippin. She worked in retail food service and was the head clerk and cashier at Food Town, Piggly Wiggly and Kroger. She retired in the 1980s and continued to work beyond her retirement. Lillian was a member of the Jasper VFW Auxiliary No. 6415, BB Liners Extension Club and the Retail Clerks Union.
Lillian was united in marriage to Donald McGinnis May 29, 1960, in Raytown, Mo. He preceded her in death in 2012.
Lillian is survived by two daughters, Vicky McGinnis Dingman and husband, Lester, of Liberal, Mo., and Carey McGinnis Beckley and husband, Brent, of Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandsons, Bryce Beckley, Cade Beckley, Ryan Dingman and Nathan Dingman; and four great-grandsons, Brayden, Avery, Benjamin and Cole. Lillian is preceded by her parents; husband, Donald McGinnis; one infant son, Raymond Edwin Park; one brother, Lloyd Flippin; and one sister, Lela Mae Tucker.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
