JOPLIN, Mo. —
Willie Bond Byrd is now holding hands with God following her passing on Sunday morning, June 30, 2013.
Born Willie Bond Edmondson on April 23, 1919, in Double Springs, Ala., she married Murray Cobb Hollis, Jr. in 1937, and attended Auburn University where she studied home economics, launching her career in home design and interior decorating.
In 1965, Willie Bond married Bill G. Byrd. During their 48 years together, they lived in Georgia, Florida, and California, before moving to Joplin, Mo. seven years ago. They have formed many lasting friendships with people all over the country.
Willie Bond is survived by husband, Bill G. Byrd; sons, Murray C. Hollis III (Diane), and Tom Byrd (Debbie); daughters, Judith Kay (Paul) and Karen Gudgel; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6, at 10:30 a.m. at College Heights Christian Church, 4311 East Newman Road, Joplin, MO 64801.
Gifts may be given in her honor to CHCC Seniors Ministry.
