DIAMOND, Mo. —
Billie "Charlene" Love, age 90, Diamond, Mo., passed away July 10, 2013.
Mrs. Love was born March 13, 1923, in Grove, Okla., to Charles and Nettie Whitten. At age 3, the family moved to Neosho. She attended Eugene Field School and Neosho High School.
Charlene married Ben R. Love on Aug. 31, 1940, and they lived in Diamond. To this union were born a son, Charles Michael and a daughter, Mary Colleen.
Charlene was a proud homemaker and loved her family. She enjoyed being outside listening to the birds. She was a member of Diamond Christian Church. Her family says "She was an angel on earth".
Mrs. Love will be dearly missed by her husband, Ben; son, Mike Love and wife, Edie, of Siloam Springs, Ark.; granddaughter, Cyndi Manke and husband, Brian, of Diamond; grandsons, Tyler Love, of Truckee, Calif., and Colby Love and wife, Lori, of Springdale, Ark.; four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by daughter, Colleen Stroud, of Springfield, Mo.; granddaughter, Kelly Skinner, of Diamond; sisters, Marie McKee, of Fort Smith, Ark., Clara Heath, of Houston, Texas, Claudia Smithpeter, of Houston, Texas, and Louise Williams, of Coral Gables, Fla.; brothers, Rodney Whitten, of Joplin, Mo., and Thomas Whitten, of Sacramento, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 15, at Diamond Christian Church; Minister Michael Whorlow officiating. Interment will be in the Diamond Cemetery, Diamond. Pallbearers will be Mike Love, Colby Love, Brian Manke, Wayne Morgan, Bob Judd and Mark Garbet. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Diamond Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charlene's memory, may be made to Diamond Christian Church in care of Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
