BAXTER SPRINGS, KS —
Dorothy Pearl (Easley) Robinson, age 82, of Baxter Springs, Kan., passed from this life of natural causes Tuesday, Nov. 13th, 2012, at 12:35 a.m. at the Quaker Hill Manor in Lowell, Kan.
Dorothy was born on Oct. 23rd, 1930, to Earl Carmen and Jenny Mary (Dunaway) Easley, at Galena, Kan., in Cherokee County. Dorothy attended Baxter Springs Schools.
She married Robert Darius Robinson (Bob) Aug. 30th, 1949, in Bentonville, Ark. He preceded her in death Feb. 27th, 1982.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, Earl and Jenny Easley; an infant brother, Emmett Easley; four sisters, Blanche Lamb, Lorene Smith, Rachel Hill and Louise Barnett Trogdon; and Dorothy's third grandson, Timothy Jared Shears. What a reunion they are having!
Survivors include two children residing in Galena: one son, Robert (Dave) Robinson and wife, Mary; and one daughter, Kathy (Robinson) Shears and husband, Tim; four grandchildren, Robert (Jason) and wife, Katrin (VanDusen) Robinson, of Branson, Mo., Jamison Scott Robinson, of Sunnyside, Queens, N.Y., (T.J. in Heaven) and Shannon Leigh (Shears) Thomas, of Joplin, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Gideon Rainey and Tristan Walker Shears, Colton Wade and Graydon Shan Thomas (Grady), Emerson Scott, Lila Rae and Rowan David Robinson, who is on the way.
During her adult life, Dorothy worked as a telephone operator, as a seamstress at Lerner's Shirt Factory, in the kitchen at Baxter Memorial Hospital's Cafeteria and as the attendant at the Baxter Laundromat until she retired. Dorothy enjoyed being an active member of Tennessee Prairie Church at Galena, and the yearly trips to Branson with Aunt "Wese" until entering the nursing home. Mom has left a legacy of dedication to God, family and friends. We will miss her twinkling eyes and shyly guarded laughter. We will remember past birthdays, holidays and church dinners that always included Dorothy's famous fried chicken, brownies and/or chocolate cake with white icing and Thanksgiving sweet potatoes. But Christmas Eve at Grandma's house, meant homemade Christmas candy, old fashioned fudge (the hard kind with pecans in every bite) off the old cocoa can recipe and the grand finale: theatre productions starring the grandchildren. This year she is giving thanks and celebrating her first Christmas in Heaven.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Tennessee Prairie Church. Pastors Dave and Mary Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tennessee Prairie Church for distribution to Blessing Exchange and Word In Action Ministries.
