JOPLIN, Mo. —
Joplin, Mo. - Markelle Medlock Dumm, age 44, of Joplin, passed away at 10:33 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, after several years of battling colon cancer.
Markelle was born Oct. 11, 1968, in Birmingham, Ala. She grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Joplin in 1997. Markelle was a graduate of Bloomsburg University, and the Regent University School of Law. She practiced law with her husband in Joplin. Markelle was a member of the Missouri, and Virginia Bar. She was also a member of Christs Church of Joplin. She enjoyed playing tennis, gardening, cooking, playing with her daughters and traveling with her family.
Markelle married Chris Dumm Aug. 7, 1993, in Bloomsburg, Penn. and he survives. Additional survivors include two daughters, Catherine and Elena Dumm, both of the home; her parents, Jerry and Sharon Medlock, Wauchula, Fla.; and one sister, Merritt Varner and husband, Jerry, Midlothian, Va.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christs Church of Joplin, 5202 E. 32nd. St. with Tim Chambers, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are requested to the Home of Gods Love Orphanage, in care of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
