JOPLIN, Mo. —
Ardeth "Ardy" Lowe, age 86, of Joplin, Mo., passed away at 8:26 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at her home following a two year illness.
Ardy was born Aug. 5, 1926, in San Diego, Calif. She was a graduate of Crane, Mo., High School in 1942 and was class Valedictorian. She had lived in Joplin most of her life. She owned Ardy's Antiques on Broadway St. in Joplin. She enjoyed traveling to antique shows and was well respected for her knowledge of antiques by the antique community. She was an avid Snoopy collector. Ardy was involved in bowling leagues in Joplin for over 20 years.
Ardy married Bill Lowe April 20, 1947, in Columbus, Kan. He preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1978.
Survivors include five sons, Steve Lowe and wife, Lela, Geneva, Ill., Sammy Lowe, Joplin, Greg Lowe, Littleton, Colo., Mike Lowe and wife, Joy, Denver Colo., and David Lowe, Mount Vernon, N.Y.; one sister, Arlene Asher, Aurora, Mo.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Gretchen Pierce and staff, Dr. Jay Carlson and staff, Springfield, Mo. and the staffs of Hospice Compassus, and Comfort Care for their support and loving care.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Belfast Cemetery, west of Neosho, Mo., with Randy L. Wilson, Minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Memorial contributions are requested to the Joplin Humane Society in care of the Mortuary. The casket will be closed.
