Darlene Garrison

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Darlene Louise Garrison, born Jan. 23, 1945, entered into rest Jan. 18, 2014. Darlene was born to Jack and Imogene Wade in Joplin, Mo. She attended Joplin Grade and High School where she graduated with the many friends she always treasured.

Darlene wed Jim Mahan, which three sons were born before she became united in marriage with Carroll Garrison in 1991.

Besides being a wonderful and caring homemaker, she loved farm life. Her flowers were as much of a passion as music was. She cared for all animals, dogs to hummingbirds. Her home was always with welcome, caring and with open arms to the beloved people of her community, from the young to the older alike felt and shared the heart warm feelings with every gathering. She used her amazing ability to leave a song in your heart and a smile on your face.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; and father and mother, Jack and Imogene Wade.

She is survived by her husband, Carroll Garrison. She is also survived by two brothers, Dennis Wade and wife, Karen and Roger Wade and his wife, Sandy; children, Jeffrey Mahan and mate, April, Phillip Mahan and wife, Angie and Gregory Mahan and wife, Ashley; her grandchildren, Samantha and Stephen Bartlett, Teala Mahan, Ashlynn and Anna Belle Mahan; two step-daughters, Fiona Lee and Heather Lemus and their children, Eloise, Amica and Brittany; one great-grandson, Braytin; and also a special friend and part of the family, Kay Bartlett.

Darlene's favorite sport was attending (NHRA) Drag Racing events, watching bull riding on T.V. and watching the St. Louis Cardinals in the playoffs and World Series. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Springfield's Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24. Interment will be follow in Pleasant Hope Cemetery.
