JOPLIN, MO —
Edmon A. Cooper, age 88, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Freeman West Hospital.
Edmon was born June 15, 1923, in Wheaton, Mo., son of the late Charles and May Cooper. He worked as a mechanic with farm equipment for Massey Ferguson from 1950 until 1988. He then went to work at Vollenweider Orchid in Exeter, Mo., which he did until retiring in 1995. He was an Army veteran of World War II with the 96th Division.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Cooper who died Jan. 4, 2011; a daughter, Pamela Sue Murdock; brothers, Olen Cooper and Cecil Cooper; and sisters, Elsie Phillips, Bernice Charles and Blanche Lee.
Survivors include a son, Karl Cooper, of Overland Park, Kan.; daughter, Vicky Weaver, of Clarksville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Glenn Cooper, of Purdy, Mo.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 18, at 1 p.m. in the Parker Mortuary Chapel with Bob Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Cory Murdock, Kyle Murdock, Taylor Tracy, David Clymer, Alex Clymer and Devin Keeling serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 6 to 7 p.m.
