Linda Daugherty

LAMAR, Mo. — Linda Lou Daugherty, 73, formerly of Lamar, Mo., passed away Feb. 2, 2014, at McCune Brooks Hospital, Carthage, Mo.

Born Oct. 29, 1940, in Lamar, Mo., Linda was the daughter of A.C. (Clay) and Marcella Daugherty.

Linda had lived the majority of her life in Lamar, where she had been a member of Lamar United Methodist Church. Five years ago Linda moved to Joplin, Mo., before becoming a resident of St. Lukes Nursing Home in Carthage where she had lived the past seven months.

Linda was blessed with a loving family and many friends. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, playing card games, and watching old movies. Linda loved family gatherings, especially celebrating birthdays.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A.C. (Clay) and Marcella Daugherty.

Linda is survived by her brothers, Byron and wife, Marilyn Daugherty, of Springfield, Mo., Carl and wife, Pat Daugherty, of Carl Junction, Mo.; sister, Peggy Haines, of Cleveland, Miss.; and nieces, Susan Daugherty-Hatch, of Cabin John, Md., Shannan Miller, of Clarksville, Tenn., Paige Goodlett. of Cleveland, Miss., Julie Cassidy, of Columbus, Kan. and Shelly Morgan, of Lawrence, Kan.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Memory Gardens, Lamar.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lamar United Methodist Church or Alternative Opportunities Inc. in care of Daniel Funeral Home. 1201 Broadway, Lamar, MO 64759.
