JOPLIN, Mo. —
Billie L. Moffett, age 87, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Mercy Hospital following a short illness.
Billie was born April 22, 1926 in Ritchey, Mo. She moved to the Joplin area from Granby, Mo., 35 years ago. She worked as a seamstress at Granby Manufacturing Co. and La-Z-Boy Furniture in Neosho, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the College View Baptist Church. She was a former member of the Eastern Star Chapter in Granby and Gingham Girls in Granby.
Billie married James F. Renfro on Dec. 25, 1945, and he preceded her in death in 1978. She married James F. Moffett in 1986, and he preceded her in death in 2010.
Her parents, Raymond "Jim" English and Nellie (Corbus) English; three brothers, R.D. English, Bobby Gene English and Edward English; and a daughter, Patty Ann Renfro, preceded her in death.
Surviving family members include two daughters, Tonia Moffett and husband, Don, Granby, Mo., and Mary Lou Messner and husband, Tom, Joplin; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Granby. Pastor J.R. Slater, officiating. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial is in Granby Cemetery, Granby.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
