AFTON, OK —

Robert F. Armstrong, of Afton, Okla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He was 87.

Mr. Armstrong was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Watson, Okla., to W.S. and Viola (Gusley) Armstrong. He had lived in Afton area since 1979, moving from Torrance, Calif. He served in the U.S. Navy During World War II and owned and operated Armstrong Roofing in Torrance, Calif. He was a member of the Midway Missionary Baptist Church South, of Fairland, Okla.   

He married Virginia Dain on Jan. 2, 2008, in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home

Additional survivors include three sisters; and step grandson, Joe Biber.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Rolston Cemetery, Monkey Island, Okla. Rev. Mitch Elmer will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Funeral Detail. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.  Friday evening at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Miami.
