JOPLIN, Mo. —
Anna W. Betterton Greer, age 86, of Joplin, passed away at her home at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
Born April 4, 1927, in Webb City, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Carrie Vaught Betterton and had lived in the area her lifetime. Anna had worked at Meeker Leather Goods. She was a member of Blendville Christian Church. She was an avid seamstress, loved to travel with her husband and be involved in her grandchildren's activities.
On Oct. 10, 1942, she married Marvin E. Greer in Joplin. He survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Marvin Greer Jr. and wife, Linda, Tommy Greer and wife, Gayle, all of Joplin, and Doug Greer and wife, Ruth, of Oronogo; two daughters, Donna Maples and husband, Larry, of Joplin, and Linda Greer, of Tacoma, Wash.; two brothers, Ernest Betterton and wife, Sally, of Joplin, and Cecil Betterton and wife, Claradene, of Webb City; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia; three sisters, Earnestine, Eva and Juanita; two brothers, Jack and Nolan; and a grandson, Stephen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Parker Chapel with Virgil Eubanks and Larry Richardson, ministers officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Terry, Brian, Tommy and Trea Greer, Kevin and Larry Maples serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
