WEBB CITY, MO —
Jerry Spence, 61, of Webb City, Mo., died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at St. John’s Regiona Medical Center following a short illness.
Jerry was born May 17, 1948, in Joplin, Mo., to Roscoe Eugene and Helen Lorraine (Owen) Spence. He was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of Joplin High School. He was a veteran of the Army serving in Germany from 1968 to 1970, as a forward observer.
On March 25, 1967, Gerald married Glenda Ganes in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Jerry worked as a barber for 20 years.
Gerald was a member of the Central City Christian Church in Joplin. He was a member of the VFW, of Webb City, American Legion, of Webb City, helped with high school legion baseball, enjoyed fishing and most of all, his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife; mother; children, Adam Spence and Emma Owens, of Webb City, and Angela Deadmond and husband, Monte, of Webb City; sister, Barbara Lovell and husband, Vernon, of Joplin; aunt, Lilly Deitrich, of Joplin; and grandchildren, Nathan, Kole and Lily Deadmond and Alexia and John W. Spence. He was preceded in death by his father.
Due to Gerald’s wishes private ceremonies will take place at a later date.
