Mabel Crum

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Mabel Frances Crum, 91, Carthage, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in St. Luke's Nursing Center, Carthage.

Mabel Frances Parker was born July 13, 1921, southeast of Carthage, the daughter of the late Philo W. Parker and Della (Ralston) Parker. She was a 1939 graduate of Carthage High School and married Raleigh Edgar Crum on Aug. 4, 1943, in Seattle, Wash.

She was the chief operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 19 years and worked in sales for Leggett & Platt for nine years, retiring in 1977. Mabel came to know the Lord early in life and at the time of her death, was the oldest active member at Bethel United Methodist Church, Carthage, where she served as pianist for many years.  She was a member of the Wesleyanna United Methodist Women, the Lincoln Ladies, former president of the Merry Mixers Extension Club, a volunteer for Crosslines and was an active participant in the O.A.T.S. Bus and SMB Travel Group.

Survivors include a brother, Mervin (Loretta) Parker, Webb City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raleigh; and two brothers, Lemoyne and Truman Parker.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m.  Minister Crystal Wicks will officiate. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
