JOPLIN, Mo. —
Lucille M. Gustafson, age 94, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.
Lucille was born on Feb. 9, 1918, in American Falls, Idaho, the daughter of the late George and Theresia (Stroh) Dalton. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She has been a resident of Joplin for the past 30 years. She worked for Superior Healthcare, retiring in 2002. Prior to that she worked for Sears and was the first woman to be awarded the Top Sales Award. Lucille was a very talented and energetic; she built her first home in 1947, was a passionate gardener, had a great capacity to love everyone and always had some special words of wisdom to share like, count your blessings or love and forgiveness intertwined.
She is survived by three sons, Richard Gustafson and wife, Kristine, Joplin, Ed Gustafson, Joplin, and Phil Knepper and wife, Rachel, Monett, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Jean Gustafson; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Jack Knepper; two brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
