JOPLIN, MO —
Phyllis June Soard, age 75, Joplin, passed away on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Mercy Hospital.
Phyllis was born Oct. 7, 1937, in Joplin, daughter of the late George Watson and Elda Vantrease Watson. She graduated from Joplin High School in 1955. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post No. 534 Auxillary and was also a member of Central City Christian Church. Her passion was taking care of her family and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. Soard, who passed away on Feb. 9, 2012; and two brothers, Robert Watson and Tony Watson.
Survivors include her children, Ernest E. Soard Jr. and wife, Linda, of Joplin, and Patricia King and husband, David, of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; grandchildren, Danielle King and Joshua King, both of Fort Leavenworth, Kimberly Skinner and husband, Carl, of Joplin, and Tommy Benning and Amanda Amann and husband, Roger, all of Coffeyville, Kan.; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Renee Amann and Kaylee Amann.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Randy Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m.
