GROVE, OK —
Earl Leonard Smith passed away Monday, Dec. 3rd, 2012, at Integris Grovel Hospital in Grove, Okla.
Earl was born on Jan. 16th, 1924, in Stella, Mo., to Loyd Smith and Alice (Collings) Smith.
Earl served his country in the Navy during World War II.
He was married for 63 years to the love of his life, Mary Ann Williams, daughter of Rev. John A. and Lellah Williams.
He moved to the Grove area 20 years ago from the Humbolt, Kan. area where he had retired from the Post Office, Earl enjoyed fishing, farming, hunting and his bird dogs.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary Ann Smith, of the home; one brother, Trueman Smith and wife, Dorothy, of Baxter Springs, Kan.; one sister, Ruth Broady, of Joplin, Mo.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved ones and friends. Earl is preceded in death by both of his parents; and one sister, Lucille Nunn.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 6th, at the Nichols Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Dec. 7th, at the First Baptist Church in Grove, with interment to follow in the Tracy Cemetery, east of Anderson, Mo. Officiating the service is Earl Cumbie. Pallbearers include Bruce Smith, Steve Williams, Darrell Smith, Tim Williams, Ronald Nunn, Vergil Smith, Galen Smith, Geary Williams and Brett Cox.
