JOPLIN, Mo. —
Clyde W. (Wayne) Atkins was born Sept. 17, 1945, in Baxter Springs, Kan., to Glenn and Mabel Atkins. He departed this life on July 6, 2013, at his home in Joplin Mo.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandson Hunter Cunningham.
He is survived by his wife, Kate, of the home; two sons, Todd and Jason Atkins; two daughters, Marvetta Cunningham and Jan Smiley; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren (a great-grandson expected in November); a brother, Tom (Sasha) Atkins; two sisters, Mary Lou (Robert) Hendrix and Sue Gilliam; five sisters in law, Verna Mitchell, Sue (Mike) Schroeder and Kay (Glenn) Eberle, Patsy Box and Terri Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 11, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 600 East 50th Street, Joplin. Rev. Mark Sumler and Rev. Brad Graves with officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are being directed to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home.
