Debra "Debbie" Gaye Macy Carter

DIAMOND, Mo. — Debra "Debbie" Gaye Macy Carter, 61, Diamond, Mo., entered into rest on July 9, 2013, at her home with loved ones by her side after being diagnosed with cancer.

She was born Dec. 13, 1951, in Joplin, Mo., to Marvin D. Macy and Geraldine (Copeland) Macy Wilson.

Debbie was a lifelong area resident. She attended Diamond R-4 School and one of her greatest accomplishments was attending college full-time while working full-time at Crowder College, where she received her AA in Business Administration with a Computer/Information Science emphasis with (Regency Distinction). She worked as an Administrative Assistant/Records Manger for many years at both East Newton School District and Crowder College. Debbie loved her children and when they were in the home her interests centered around them, attending sporting events and county fairs. As her children left the home she enjoyed working in her yard and landscaping. At least once a year she received the "Beauty Spot of the Week" from Diamond Improvement Group. She was a member of the Diamond Improvement Group, a Diamond R-4 School board member, Spring Valley 4-H Parent Advisor and Diamond Booster Club member.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Steven E. Carter, who she married on May 18, 1968, at Granby Tabernacle, Granby, Mo. She is also survived by her children, Wendy M. Carter Elder (Lt. Col. Dustin K. Elder), of Fort Sam Houston, Texas, John A. Carter (Cassy Beerly Carter), of Oronogo, Mo., and Jacob (Ben) Benjamin Carter, of Diamond; grandchildren, Carssyn Beerly Carter, Chloe Beerly Carter, Jager Carter and Gabriel Elder; sister, Sandra Sue Macy Cullum, of Monett, Mo.; spouse of her mother, James T. Wilson, of Diamond; and mother-in-law, Ruth J Combs Carter, Granby. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin D Macy and Geraldine Copeland Macy Wilson; her brother, Jerry (Butch) Macy; brother-in-law, George P. Cullum; niece, Angela (Angie) Lea Cullum Swadley; and father-in-law, E. Max Carter.

Memorial graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, at Granby Memorial Cemetery Granby; Senior Pastor Robin Sigars officiating. Memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 Sunday, July 14, at Clark Funeral Home Granby Chapel Granby.

In lieu of flowers please consider one of the following memorial contributions to honor Debbie's memory. The Debbie Carter Memorial Scholarship Foundation for Diamond or East Newton Students attending Crowder College. Contributions can also go to Avalon Hospice or Visiting Angels giving to those who supported the family in those final days. All contributions can be sent in in care of Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Thank you to all those who kept vigil in thought and prayer for our family during Mom's illness until she was called home to be with our Lord.
