JOPLIN, Mo. —
Marion E. Stone, of Joplin, Mo., passed away at age 84, on Dec. 25, 2013. Marion was known as "The Happy Hatter" and the "Queen of Bling" to her friends.
Born in Los Angeles, on Dec. 28, 1928, Marion resided in California until 1995, when she relocated to Joplin with her husband, Clayton Stone.
She was survived by her husband, Clayton Stone; his two daughters, Terri and Lindi; and four grandchildren.
Marion loved Dixieland Jazz. While living in Oakhurst, Calif. in 1991, she and friend, Jackie Moody, created a local market for Dixieland Jazz by bringing together local musicians. Local ladies accompanying the jazz band later became known as the "JAZZABELLS". The band and the "JAZZABELLS" are still enriching Oakhurst today with their own Dixieland Jazz.
Services will be held on Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. at the Community Chapel on 26th street in Joplin, with Pastor Jeff Jones officiating.
