JOPLIN, Mo. —
Robert W. "Bob" Richart, age 73, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, following an illness.
Bob was born on April 29, 1940, in Joplin, the son of the late Fairbanks Houx and Helen (Hagar) Richart. He has been a lifetime area resident. He graduated from Joplin High School a member of the class of 1958. He attended Northwestern University where he played trombone in the Wildcat Marching Band. In 1965, he received his Law Degree from Tulane University. He opened the Richart Law Firm in Joplin, retiring in 2011. He has been a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. He has attended the Men's Bible Study for over 34 years. He was a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Jasper County Bar Association, the Joplin Kiwanis Club for 45 years and a member of the Twin Hills Country Club BBB's. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling.
He married Nancy Sue Crim on Sept. 5, 1959. She preceded him in death in 1989. Together they had three sons. One son, John Fairbanks Richart, preceded him in death. He married Jane Styron Caudell on Dec. 28, 2000, and she survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Robert Bruce Richart and his wife, Cyd, Fayetteville, Ark., and Christian Scott Richart and wife, Beth, Asheville, N.C.; two stepsons, Kent Caudell, Carthage, Mo., and Paul Caudell and wife, Michelle, St. Louis, Mo.; and seven grandchildren, Robert Douglas Richart and wife, Brittany, Alexa Delanie Richart, Ruby Richart, Carley King, Jane Caudell, Sam Caudell and Ike Caudell.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church at 509 Pearl. Rev. Dave Burgess will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:30 p.m. at the Church in John Knox Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be given to the First Presbyterian Church in care of the mortuary.
