Vivian Estelle Vaughn

LONGVIEW, Mo. — On Jan. 2, 2014, Vivian Estelle Vaughn finished her race on this Earth and ran to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Estelle was born in 1930 in Ridgely, Mo. As a youth, she and her family moved west where she made lifelong memories working in the orange groves of Southern California. It was in California that she met and married the love of her life, Lowell "Red" Vaughn, and after starting their family with their four boys, moved to McDonald County where Estelle and Red would lay down lasting roots and build a legacy of family, faith and love that would last for generations.

On the farm, south of Longview, Mo., Estelle and Red raised their four boys and gave shelter and love to many children in foster care. Estelle worked alongside Red on the farm for over 30 years until his health and retirement required a move to the city.

Red would precede her in death, along with three of her four sons, Leon Crowe, Jim Crowe and Ray Vaughn, and in a life that could so easily have been defined by staggering loss, Estelle continued to cling to her faith and display an inner vitality unique only to her. Though weary at the end, she is raised to new life by the Jesus she journeyed so long with.

She is survived by her son, Bill Crowe; daughters-in-law, Tami Crowe and Gina Fleming; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss the "Grandma Vaughn" they loved so dearly.

A memorial service to celebrate her life and her Savior will be held at Noon this Saturday, Jan. 11, at Prosperity Baptist Church in Rocky Comfort, Mo. A lunch reception at the church will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a fund set up to benefit one of Estelle's granddaughters who lost her home in a fire earlier this week. For more info visit

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers, Ark.
