CARTHAGE, Mo. —
Norma Helene Freelend, 78, passed away Feb. 13, 2013, in Carthage, Mo.
Norma was born July 30, 1934, in Salem, Mo., to Raymond Mounce and Pearl Ann (Prater) Mounce. Norma was a Carthage resident for the past 11 years, moving from Mount Vernon, Mo. Norma was a nurse and worked for Dr. George and Dr. Neufelt in the Mount Vernon Clinic. She also worked at the Lawrence City Manor. Norma attended the First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage. Norma was an avid bingo player.
Norma was united in marriage to Eldon Freelend Nov. 7, 1952, in Marionville, Mo. They were later divorced. He survives.
Norma is survived by her mother, Pearl Anne Herold, of Sierra Vista, Ark.; six children, Rayomond Freelend and wife, Cindy, of Sarcoxie, Judith Haines, of Carthage, Jerome Welters and wife, Vivian, of Monett, Allen Freelend and wife, Ronda, of Carthage, Vernon Freeland and wife, Zee, of Carthage, and Cheryl Freelend, of Sarcoxie; one brother, Bernie Mounce, of Northern California; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Norma was preceded by her dad, Raymond Mounce; a brother, David Mounce; a son, Paul Freelend; and grandson, Zackary Freelend.
Memorial services are at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at the First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Dustin Ledford will officiate. Visitation to follow memorial service.
